2026 Wave Season Sales Rise for TRAVELSAVERS Canada Agencies
Closer-to-Home Cruise Itineraries Drive Triple-Digit Growth
TORONTO (March 10, 2026): As the 2026 wave season nears its end, TRAVELSAVERS Canada reports notable double-digit increases in cruise sales across virtually all major categories compared with the same period last year.
The strongest gains during the first two months of the year came from expedition and river cruising, which posted year‐over‐year increases of 40 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. Luxury cruise sales increased 14 per cent and ocean cruises grew nine per cent.
“Cruising continues to resonate with Canadian travellers, especially as cruise lines introduce new ships, immersive itineraries and enhanced onboard experiences,” said Jane Clementino, Senior Vice President and General Manager, TRAVELSAVERS Canada. “Many travellers are recognizing the value and ease thatcruise vacations offer, and wave season provides an ideal opportunity to secure exceptional offers.”
Demand for itineraries closer to home has surged at an even faster pace. Sailings in the Americas are experiencing triple‐digit growth, led by Panama Canal voyages (up 144 per cent), Alaska itineraries (up 109 per cent), and Canada/New England routes (up 108 per cent). World cruises have also gained traction, increasing 69 per cent, while European sailings climbed 54 per cent.
“Cruise lines have been rolling out new ships in recent years, many with innovative features that are generating strong interest among travellers,” said Monique Lalonde, Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships, TRAVELSAVERS Canada. “They have been expanding their fleets and placing ships in regions that travellers are eager to explore, including Alaska and Europe, especially along the Mediterranean. Canadian travel advisors are seeing that demand translate into strong bookings.”
Early booking patterns suggest continued growth into 2027. TRAVELSAVERS report that reservations for next year’s sailings are already up 7.6 per cent, with additional increases anticipated as the year progresses.
Affiliated agencies benefit from year-round cruise advantages through the network’s Value Incentive Program (VIP).
