The Resilient Travel Industry: Fueling Economic Growth and Expressing Gratitude
Hello TRAVELSAVERS and NEST Members!
According to the U.S. Travel Association, travel accounted for $1.2 Trillion in direct spending in 2022 – which produced an economic footprint of $2.6 Trillion – a return to 2019 levels. In 2022, travel supported nearly 15 million American workers and directly employed 8 million. This economic and job growth was largely due to the robust return of domestic leisure travel, which far outpaced the recovery of the business and international travel segments.
In short, travel is essential to driving economic growth and job creation in states, destinations, and communities across America. It is indispensable to our nation’s global competitiveness, essential to all Americans, and is irreplaceable as an industry.
Of course, since we are in the business of travel together, the above may not come as a surprise to many of you, but in this season of giving thanks and coming together with family, friends, and colleagues, it bears repeating and recognizing that the work you do each day (and night) has a positive impact on people’s health and family, their local communities, and the greater global good. You are a destination expert, an organizer, concierge service provider, and you also add an extra layer of security protection for your client’s travels – both business and leisure. Who is the person that helps the client 24/7, when they’re stranded or they need help changing travel plans? Yes, that’s right, it’s you! For this, and so many other reasons, we are thankful that you are part of the TRAVELSAVERS and NEST families and that you have entrusted us with helping grow your business and expand your industry knowledge.
So, as we wind down the year, and there’s still plenty of business to be done, I’d like to leave you with this friendly and important advice…whether you book leisure, corporate, or blended travel, you can access our TRAVELSAVERS Preferred Hotel Program rates in the GDS by using the TSA consortia rate access code, or the TS8 promotional rate code. If you don’t use a GDS you can book through our online booking tool, tripXpress.
TSA consortia rates ensure the least restricted, preferred rates in the GDS, many of which are discounted off BAR, offer last room availability, guaranteed commission, added amenities, and other great benefits. The TS8 promotional rates offer restricted rates, such as pre-paid rates, minimum room nights required, and unique TRAVELSAVERS promotions while still guaranteeing commission. Find more information on the TRAVELSAVERS Preferred Hotel Program, including booking formats, on the Agent Extranet (US, Canada or NEST), under Hotel Programs – TRAVELSAVERS Preferred Hotel Program.
I wish you a safe and happy Holiday Season and best wishes for a prosperous and healthy 2024! Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to connecting with you again in the New Year!
