During the pandemic when other companies were contracting, Sonesta was growing and embarked on a comprehensive initiative to reimagine the business and define each of the brands. This brand identity work led to a refreshed strategy, new brand promise, brand pillars, and programs developed through the lens of the consumer. With the recent appointment of John Murray as the President & CEO, Sonesta’s new branding has led to increased excitement, engagement, and added bench strength across the company, making Sonesta’s emergence from the pandemic even stronger.

Sonesta is setting forth new strategies and plans to fuel growth, including a series of innovative programs to elevate the brand, increase revenue, while driving profitability through labor and operating cost reductions. The company is rolling out new tier-based food & beverage programs at Sonesta Select, testing a virtual dining concept at three locations, introducing automated self-service Grab & Go markets at select properties, as well as introducing new innovative solutions to enable seamless meetings and events.

Sonesta was pleased to announce the addition of The Royal Sonesta Benjamin Hotel. A New York City Midtown Landmark, in the heart of the world’s best shopping, dining and entertainment. The 209-room Benjamin offers guest rooms and suites ranging from deluxe rooms, studios, and one-bedroom suites to suites with terraces. The Shelburne has also been added to the Sonesta portfolio. The recently renovated Shelburne Sonesta New York is in the heart of the Murray Hill neighborhood. Steps away from Grand Central Station, the hotel offers 325 spacious guest rooms and sites, ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments. Many of the rooms have large terraces and views of the Empire State Building. Services and amenities include 1,800 square feet of event space.

Sonesta’s incredible momentum continues in 2022 with the launch of Sonesta Franchising in March, plus the addition of 50 new franchised hotels since the beginning of this year. Leading a charge towards innovation with a newly launched mobile app and expansion of Sonesta Work Suite space within select locations. With the addition of new properties in New York City and plans to open future hotels in key markets such as Washington, D.C., Sonesta is committed to expanding its success story in 2022, and beyond.
