The Importance of Travel Insurance
Greetings TRAVELSAVERS Advisors!
It’s hard to believe that 2022 is coming to a close and the holidays will soon be upon us. I trust you had a safe and wonderful summer and that business has seen a positive pick up for you as well.
In June of 2020, I shared information on an important topic: Travel Insurance. If there was one thing the Covid-19 pandemic taught us, it was how to be resilient and learn how to cope with the never ending changes that seem to go on and on. I’m sure you have had that client or friend that may have thought they could get a better deal without your expertise, only to come back to you with their horrific stories about long wait times or never being able to reach anyone for assistance. These stories, some even gaining national attention, have surely sent strong messages to travelers that utilizing a travel advisor’s knowledge and expertise is a great investment for a traveler to make.
Today, purchasing a travel insurance policy is still an important component when working with clients and making their travel plans. Many consumers tend to rely on their credit card companies who offer some sort of travel insurance coverage. These policies many times, however, do not always include medical or dental coverage, nor emergency evacuation coverage. These are the three most important and protective types of travel insurance one can have. It may be okay to have credit card coverage as a supplement, but if it’s the only source, please ensure you and your clients know what is included. When purchasing travel insurance the things you want to be looking for that are covered are as follows:
- Reimbursement for medical expenses
- Baggage loss
- Evacuation to your home country
- Consider companies that can help protect you from financial losses if your trip is canceled or interrupted for reasons beyond your control.
